    YONKERS, NY
For our latest map we looked north of New York City up the Hudson River to the town of Yonkers. Downtown Yonkers is undgoing a revitalization project and our map is part of the effort to promote the area. The map is run by Yonkers Rising , a new local news publication (link below). We included parking, the waterfront with the stage, and even a war memorial. Special thanks to George White for the great survey work.

This is our first map for a news outfit, and we're enjoying the change of venue.

    -----------------
    WALNUT CREEK, CA
Grant, our partner out in California, and MondoMap are working feverishly to finish up the Walnut Creek map. That will be followed by Orinda and Lafayette, the towns next door. Expect something up by Christmas!

ART GALLERIES IN NEW YORK (and BERKELEY)
We added two more maps to the NYC site: Chelsea and DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass). The great thing about these neighborhoods is they have art galleries, and lots of them. We thought we should promote the exhibitions each month, and the response has been great. It's become our site's most popular page. Thank you to all those galleries sending us your shows!

    DUMBO:

Our art gallery maps don't stop in New York. In a few months we'll launch a Berkeley Art Studio Map for the Berkeley CVB, showing roughly 125 studios in the the west part of the city, toward the water. We'll feature events such as open studio tours and specific exhibitions, and hopefully provide a little exposure for this relatively undiscovered and growing art scene.

    HILTON SF
Where to eat in downtown San Francisco? The Hilton at Kearny and Washington now uses a few Mondo Maps to help their guests find dining and attractions within easy walking distance of the hotel's front door. The Hilton picked 80 or so of their favorite bars, restaurants and tourist hot spots, and we created a Hilton-centric map (two actually), showing each location as it relates to the hotel. We even put in concentric circles marking distances in minutes needed on foot. Easy options for the busy traveller. And fun ones too, including, oddly enough, wild parrots on Telegraph Hill, which we weren't lucky enough to see ourselves when we were out mapping it, but we know they're there.

    BASEL, SWITZERLAND
The St. Alban neighborhood in Basel, Switzerland is live. We mapped the area along the Rhine from the Art Museum to the old city fortifications. In between you'll find an assortment of art galleries, jewelry makers, artisans, a paper museum with a working water wheel, and a motorless ferry powered by the current. Now we're attempting to partner with an organization like Basel.com, the tourist bureau, to expand to the historic old town.

    Hello again,

It's been a while since MondoMap's last newsletter (10 months, actually) and we're excited to back to it. So here's the latest about our new projects, partnerships and ideas. In upcoming issues we'll include new dining recommendations, and even bring you industry news. Let's get started...

    NEW PROJECTS
The Yonkers map is almost up. Our East Coast staff did a great job surveying the area on this one. This map will be run by Rising Publications, an new local search company. Website to come.

Berkeley! We've mapped eight neighborhoods in Berkeley CA for the Convention and Visitors Bureau, from the Gourmet Ghetto to Fourth Street to Telelgraph Avenue. Website to come shortly.

Basel, Switzerland? Yes, that too. While the Euro-cup rages, we're out mapping the St. Alban area along the Rhine.

    NEW PARTNERS
We've partnered with Community Marketing Group in Moraga, CA, to begin mapping Contra Costa county. We already have Moraga, are halfway done with Walnut Creek, and begin Lafayette tomorrow. CMG also works with us on shopping center maps for Kimco Realty Corporation. Here's one: http://map.sunsetesplanade.com/

    WHAT'S NEXT
Tradeshows. We're working with a trade show organizer on a collaborative mapping system to let teams manage booth sales. You draw the booths online yourself, store occupant information (area sold, status, price etc.) and archive shows. We are looking for more trade shows who want to try it for free.

    Thanks,

    Bob Wolf

    Dear MondoMap subscribers,

We found a few new additions to the Alphabet City neighborhood, including Gramstand Tea Shop and Rapture Cafe, both on Avenue A.

    Rapture Cafe

We've also added a few gizmos to the maps. You can now email a link to friends directly from the map, and we've made printing the map very easy.

Finally, stay tuned for a new neighborhood map launching this week: Chinatown!! (Just in time for Chinese New Years.)

    Regards,

Bob Wolf and the entire MondoMap staff.
