The competition is open to all map-makers in the United States and Canada, and in the student category, two map-makers from the Annapolis Valley campus, which is part of the Nova Scotia Community College, earned first place honours. Wes Jones submitted the Best Electronic Map, an interactive site map of Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens, while Mat Noble had the Best Printed Map: King of Coal — Peak Production of the Sydney Coalfield, 1863-1976.
